Staying in Loenen during courses

Course registration

Payments
Please make your contributions at least 10 days before the start of the course, to our bank account 6901668. If this does not work for some reason, you can also pay in cash or with pinpas in the shop.
For conditions of the module-donation, see the Dutch page or contact us.

Cancellation/absence and refunds outside the module donation
Cancellation is possible until 48 hours before the start of the activity (usually Wednesday 16.00), but you are charged € 10,- cancellation fees. This amount will be deducted from your refund or you will receive a bill from us.
With cancellation within 48 hours of start, only 25% of the course contribution can be refunded. In special cases, the director may decide differently. Once the activity has started, no refunds are possible when you cancel.
If you pay the module donation for a course, no refunds are given for the course you have signed up for.

Fee reduction for Dharma protectors and Djindaks
Dharma protectors and Djindaks are entitled to a 10% reduction of contributions for most courses except for the special module-donation. See also this page about membership.

Karma yoga
Most of the work in Loenen is done by volunteers. Because of this, we can keep the course fees low. Besdes the course fees, we request all participating students to do an hour of karma yoga during the day; that means light household chores that are essential to run the course smoothly whilst keeping the fees low. Besides this, karma yoga is a practical part of the course; practicing karma ultimately means to do positive things for others.

House rules
During a stay in Loenen, we request students to abide by the following five main precepts:

  • not killing (including animals and insects)
  • not stealing (taking what is not given)
  • no sexual activities
  • not lying
  • no alcohol, drugs or cigarettes

Smoking is not allowed on the entire property. If you need to smoke, please do that outside at the front of the lounge on the smokers-spot at the Hoofdweg. Burning of candles and incense is strictly forbidden outside the gompa.

Bed linen and towels
The use of bed linen and a towel is included in the course fees. Please make up your bed with the bed linen found on the linen trolley. If this is difficult, please ask a fellow student for help. Please never sleep on a bed which is not or only partially made up. After the course, please put the bed linen and the towel in the laundry trolley. All other laundry, even if white, not in the trolley but in the laundry basket. You can save the Institute a lot of money with your mindfulness!
Please also note that the mattress cover (not the bed-sheet) should remain on the bed unless it is dirty. In that case, plase do not put it in the laundry trolley but in a separate laundry basket for 'other laundry'.

Bar money
The institute offers coffee and tea for free throughout the day. Other drinks and snacks should be paid for in the special pot on the bar.

Various other things
Please leave your shoes in the cupboard near the entrance and take your house-shoes with you.
Please be mindful to not leave your clothes and toiletries behind when you leave. Lost and found objects are kept for only one month.
Please be mindful of noise, especially at night.

Staying outside courses
Members can stay in Loenen outside courses to do retreat or short holidays. Please see this page (members only).
